The George Mason University Department of
Computer Science
is located in
Fairfax,
Virginia, near Washington DC, in the middle of one of the largest
concentrations of computing industries in the world. Faculty in the
department have research projects in the computing fields of data
mining, databases, information security, information system, software
engineering, and web development engineering.
The Department of Information and Software Engineering
and the
Department of Computer Science
have merged
effective January 1, 2008.
The name of the new department is Computer Science.
The following graduate programs and certificates
from the former ISE department will remain intact
and continue to operate under the administration of the
new department:
In addition, the new
Minor in Software Engineering
will be administered by the merged department.
Information about all graduate programs and certificates for the Spring 2008 semester
will continue to be available on this web site as well as be accessible from
the new Computer Science
department web site
by the start of the spring semester.

Professor Carlotta Domeniconi
has received the presitgous NSF CAREER Award.
The Award is titled "Learning Local Feature Relevance for Pattern Classification and
Clustering" and is in the amount of $400,000 for the period 2/1/2005 through 1/31/2010.
