New Requirement for Graduating with Graduate Certificates

It has recently come to the ISE Department’s attention that a new regulation set forth in the 2007-2008 catalog regarding graduate certificates is causing problems with students who are graduating in January 2008, with the intent of also securing one or more certificates at the same time.

More particularly, the text on page 44 of the catalog under the heading of “Students in Master’s or Doctoral Programs also Pursuing Graduate Certificates” reads as follows:

Students must be admitted to the master’s or doctoral program in degree status. They must also be admitted to degree status for the graduate certificate program at least one semester before completion of certificate requirements.

All students who intend to receive a certificate offered by the ISE Department need to complete a “Graduate: Add Certificate Program Form” which can be found at the IT&E web page. The path from the web page is: Graduates, Student Services (Forms and Procedures), Student Services Forms (Add Certificate Program Form). You will need to complete one form for each certificate desired.

Please submit the completed form to the department office located in room 330 of Science & Tech II Building or mail it to Mail Stop 4A4, GMU, Fairfax VA 22030.
