News!

12/06/2007  The final exam will be held on 12/10/07 and 12/17/07. You can choose either day to take but only once.
  No make up is allowed!  Please bring pencils and eraser!!! The exam will be multiple choices.
  The location of 12/10/07 will be at RA 249 at 4:30-7:10PM.  The 12/17 is at classroom.
   
12/07/2007 Due to class room size limitation, we only can have about 30 students to take exam on 12/10/07. If you want to
   take exam on that day, please send email to mxu@gmu.edu, including subject "12/10 exam" and your four name and G#.  First come, First service. The professor has bought the scantrons!
   
   

 

Course Description

This course is a broad introduction to the theory and practice of Information Security. It serves as the first security course for the MS-ISA degree and is required as a pre-requisite for all subsequent ISA courses (at the 600 and 700 levels). It also serves as an entry level course available to non-ISA students, including MS-CS, MS-ISE and MS-SWE students.

The Midterms and Final are closed book.

All assignments must be done individually by each student, unless explicitly required otherwise.

The final grades are computed according to the following rules:

1.      A+: >= 95%

2.      A: >= 90% and < 95%

3.      A-: >= 85% and < 90%

4.      B+: >= 80% and < 85%

5.      B: >= 75% and < 80%

6.      B-: >= 70% and < 75%

7.      C+: >= 66% and < 70%

8.      C: >= 63% and < 66%

9.      C-: >= 60% and < 63%

10.  D+: >= 56% and < 60%

11.  D: >= 53% and < 56%

12.  D-: >= 50% and < 53%

13.  F: < 50%.
